Bohemia Room and South Florida Poetry Community To Raise Awareness for Domestic Violence & Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Miami, Fl- The Bohemia Room host their 8th annual Soul Survivors Spoken Word Experience on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Grand Central (697 North Miami Avenue Miami, FL 33136). Show starts at 8pm. This event celebrates the lives of those who are survivors and honors the memory of those have faced a tragedy.
October kicks off National Domestic Violence Awareness month. The Bohemia Room’s very own poet Lorre “Elle” Tennant” was killed her ex-husband of two weeks and father of her two young sons after returning home from a performance. www.browardpalmbeach.com/2004-10-07/news/requiem-for-a-murdered-poet/.
The Bohemia Room looks to celebrate the lives of those around us who have made it through the storms and encourage others to stay afloat as their Souls battle for Survival.
October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Bohemia Room poets will also be teaming up with D’Limers on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Susan G. Koeman Race For the Cure. “Soul Survivors is a testament to the power of Spoken Word and the will of the Soul to survive and thrive. We hope our event will also bring the necessary attention and awareness to domestic violence and breast cancer”, says the creator of the Bohemia Room poetry night, Ingrid Bazin.

Rosie aka Nytaina has been a part of South Florida’s Spoken Word community for over a decade. As a Poet and supporter of the craft she has been a part of The Bohemia Room family lending her talents as a Masseuse, friend and Poet to our event for years. Rosie is a Soul Survivor, she was diagnosed with Arrythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD) over 20 years ago and has been battling the disease ever since. As one of the nations uninsured Rosie’s current battle is complicated by the cost of healthcare. Her most recent bout with ARVD has made it imperative that she goes to the doctor and refrain from work in order to stay alive. Mounting medical bills coupled with being uninsured and unemployed make it an even harder battle for this single mother. Donations will be collected at the show to help her.
